RICE was more expensive, while pork was cheaper, in early March, according to recent data of the Philippine Statistics Authority.
Well-milled rice retailed at P55.10 per kilogram (kg) nationwide in the March 1-5 period, higher than P53.54/kg in Feb. 15-17, and P52.62/kg in Feb. 1-5.
It was likewise higher compared to P52.47/kg in the March 15-17, 2025 period, and P52.47/kg in March 1-5, 2025.
Fresh pork meat with bones sold for P308.82/kg in early March, a decline from P311.74/kg and P313.62/kg in mid- and early February, respectively.
It was also lower than P327.22/kg and P327.5/kg in mid- and early March 2025, respectively.
Meanwhile, the average price of galunggong in early March was P243.01/kg, a decrease from P246.38/kg and P253.77/kg in mid- and early February, respectively.

Tomatoes were cheaper at P86.30/kg in early March, compared to P95.74/kg in mid-February and P104.78/kg in early February.
However, this was higher compared to P68.89/kg in the second phase and P75.65/kg in the first phase of March 2025.
Red onions cost P167.67/kg in early March, a decline from P177.33/kg in mid-February and P184.01/kg in early February.
It was likewise lower than P180.56/kg in early March 2025, but higher than P165.57/kg in mid-March 2025.
Lantundan banana sold for P59.52/kg in early March, higher than P57.90/kg in mid-February and P56.62/kg in early February.
Similarly, it was higher than P55.72/kg and P54.89/kg in mid- and early March 2025, respectively.
Cooking oil retailed at P194.26 per liter (L) in early March, also higher than P193.75/L and P193.46 in mid- and early February.
This was likewise higher than P172.15/L and P171.8/L in mid- and early March 2025.
