The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries reaffirmed its commitment to supporting modern farming communities to ensure stable prices and reliable markets for rice crops through advanced contract farming.
Minister Dith Tina made the remarks during a meeting with members of a modern agricultural community in Maung Russey district, Battambang province, yesterday, where farmers have recently started producing Sar Ngae rice under contract farming agreements at a price of 950 riel per kilogram.
He explained that this favourable price stems from the collective strength and organisation of modern agricultural communities, which empower farmers to negotiate directly with buyers on price, quality, and quantity—rather than relying on state intervention in price setting.
Minister Dith Tina said that the Ministry will continue to support the formation and strengthening of modern agricultural communities to help farmers secure markets through advanced contracts, reduce production costs, and receive ongoing technical assistance to enhance productivity and sustainability.
