On Wednesday, traders reported that Bangladesh's state grain buyer had issued a new international tender for the purchase of 50,000 metric tonnes of rice.
The deadline to submit price offers is November 6, 2018.
Bangladesh has also released a separate tender for 50,000 tons rice, with price offers due on November 3.
In recent months, the Bangladeshi government issued a number of tenders for rice import purchases to increase supplies.
The domestic rice price in Bangladesh has risen by 15% over the last year, despite a bumper harvest. This leaves consumers in a difficult situation.
Both tenders seek offers of prices for non-basmati rice parboiled in CIF terms (which include ship unloading charges for the seller) for shipment to Chittagong or Mongla ports.
