SSRice Special - Weekly

This is our MONTHLY update on prices, which comes a week delay due to our visit to Geneva for the Geneva Dry 2024 conference. It is timely to show how Rio Grade Sul’s floods have left prices firm in the Americas.

The story from Pakistan has remained consistent to what was revealed to us at our annual convention. A record production in 2023/24 is seen backing an export market that has its sights set on 5 MMT export year. 

In this, our first Parboiled rice market report in 2024, we are able to look at the 2023 trades with full-year data we presented at the SS Rice News Convention. Together with the latest data for Jan-Feb and some Mar 2024 official export data showing the key export markets we follow in our efforts to understand parboiled rice markets.

We just updated our official data for India’s Jan-Feb 2024 rice exports to have a first look at the 2024 trades.

This, our second report, with our last report focused on Jan-Oct 2023 information and as we now have full data for the full-2023 year for brokens rice. As suggested in our earlier report, two important developments that stand out

In this week’s special report, we focus on Vietnam’s rice exports, and take a deep dive into Viet Jan-Dec 2023 export data which we have updated, to show the key buy-side highlights

The official data for Indian 2023 rice exports are in, and allows a full look at 2023 exports which could be described as a tale of two halves, with H1 2023 showing the influence of a broken rice ban in 2022

The last report on Thailand showed Jan-May 2023 data and we suggested a 8 MMT potential, and this potential was not just achieved, 2023 export total of 8.73 MMT was from Thai competitiveness
