European Rice Markets Show Mixed Price Movements in Early July 2026

European rice markets showed mixed price movements in early July 2026, according to the latest market note from FranceAgriMer. The report, titled Info Riz N° 466 and dated 10 July 2026, covers trade with third countries for the 2025/2026 campaign as of 7 July 2026.

EU Import Data

Total rice imports by European Union member states reached 1,371,365 tonnes (milled equivalent, excluding broken rice) by 7 July 2026. This represents a 1% increase compared to the 1,345,605 tonnes recorded at the same point in the previous campaign on 2 July 2025. Among the largest importing countries, Italy imported 179,784 tonnes, the Netherlands 202,029 tonnes, Spain 101,036 tonnes, and France 220,475 tonnes.

European Paddy Rice Quotations

For paddy rice, Italian Tipo Ribe variety was quoted at 432.00 euros per tonne on both 7 July and 30 June 2026. Spanish Japonica rice stood at 451.68 euros per tonne on both dates, while Spanish Indica was at 344.07 euros per tonne. Bulgarian Japonica was priced at 505.00 euros per tonne on both dates. Greek and Portuguese varieties were not quoted on 7 July, and Romanian Japonica and Indica were also not quoted on that date, though on 30 June Romanian Japonica had been at 246.00 euros per tonne and Romanian Indica at 245.00 euros per tonne.

European Milled Rice Quotations

In the milled rice segment, Italian Rond variety was not quoted on either date. Spanish Ribe was not quoted on 7 July but had been at 1,081.90 euros per tonne on 30 June. French Long A variety was quoted at 805.00 euros per tonne on both dates, and French Long A parboiled stood at 1,250.00 euros per tonne on both dates. French Japonica broken rice was priced at 510.00 euros per tonne on both dates.

Italian Rice Sales and Prices

Sales of Italian rice varieties for the 2025/2026 campaign showed varying volumes compared to the previous campaign. Round rice sales reached 322,443 tonnes (88% of the 2024/2025 volume of 364,481 tonnes). Medium grain sales were 57,324 tonnes (96% of 59,543 tonnes). Long A sales totaled 577,660 tonnes (103% of 559,553 tonnes). Long B sales amounted to 242,860 tonnes (88% of 274,424 tonnes).

On the international market, FCA prices for Indian cargo rice were reported at 970 dollars per tonne on 17 June 2026, 990 dollars per tonne on 24 June, and 1,040 dollars per tonne on 1 July, reaching 1,050 dollars per tonne on 8 July. Pakistani Basmati cargo prices stood at 1,040 dollars per tonne on 17 June, 1,050 dollars per tonne on 24 June, 1,060 dollars per tonne on 1 July, and 1,080 dollars per tonne on 8 July.

Global FOB Quotations

Thai rice FOB prices declined over the period. Thai 100% grade fell from 484 dollars per tonne on 17 June to 471 dollars per tonne on 8 July. Thai 5% dropped from 473 to 461 dollars per tonne, Thai 25% from 449 to 439 dollars per tonne, and Thai parboiled from 473 to 468 dollars per tonne over the same dates.

Pakistani 5% rice rose from 392 dollars per tonne on 17 June to 415 dollars per tonne on 8 July, while Pakistani 25% increased from 364 to 383 dollars per tonne. Vietnamese 5% held relatively steady, moving from 413 to 414 dollars per tonne, and Vietnamese 25% edged from 383 to 382 dollars per tonne. Indian 5% rose from 347 to 355 dollars per tonne, and Indian 25% from 330 to 338 dollars per tonne. US 4% rice remained flat at 903 dollars per tonne on 17 June and 902 dollars per tonne on 8 July.
