The rice market in the Mekong Delta remained stable on February 1st. Prices for fresh paddy and export rice showed no new changes amidst slow trading activity.

The rice market in the Mekong Delta region remained stable during the trading session on February 1st. According to surveys, the prices of fresh paddy and finished rice products were largely unchanged compared to the previous session, reflecting the cautious sentiment of traders as the supply from the Winter-Spring crop begins to enter the market.

Fresh rice prices remain stable across the board.

Updates from the An Giang Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment show that rice prices today continue to remain at the same level. In key rice-growing areas such as An Giang, Can Tho, Dong Thap, and Vinh Long, transactions of the winter-spring rice crop are quite slow, with demand remaining moderate.

In An Giang , rice prices remained generally stable over the weekend. Meanwhile, in Can Tho and Ca Mau, farmers offered small quantities of their winter-spring rice crop, and the market was relatively quiet due to insignificant transaction volumes.

The market for raw and finished rice remains stable.

Similar to paddy rice, the prices of raw and finished rice have not seen any new fluctuations. OM 18 export raw rice is currently trading in the range of 8,800 – 9,000 VND/kg, while IR 504 finished rice remains at 9,500 – 9,700 VND/kg.

At retail markets, prices for basic consumer rice varieties remain stable. Nang Nhen rice maintains the highest price at 28,000 VND/kg. Popular varieties such as long-grain Thai fragrant rice range from 20,000 – 22,000 VND/kg, Jasmine rice is at 14,000 – 15,000 VND/kg, and common white rice is listed at 16,000 VND/kg.

Export rice prices maintain their position in the international market.

According to data from the Vietnam Food Association, Vietnam's export rice prices are currently stable after recent fluctuations. Specifically, fragrant rice with 5% broken grains is being offered at 420-440 USD/ton. Jasmine rice is maintaining its price around 446-450 USD/ton, while 100% broken rice is at 319-323 USD/ton.

Overall, the rice market in the Mekong Delta is entering a period of stagnation. The supply of winter-spring rice is gradually increasing, while businesses and traders remain cautious, making it difficult for prices to break through in the short term.
