Rice inflation in Occidental Mindoro slowed significantly to 13.7 percent in July from 17.8 percent in June, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
In the July Inflation Report, Supervising Statistical Specialist Creissa Anne Untalan of the PSA in Occidental Mindoro cited easing fuel costs as a key factor behind the deceleration. to
“Our researchers’ feedback shows the rate of price increases slowed this July… possibly due to logistics — the rise in fuel prices has also slowed, and fuel is a key input in transporting rice,” Untalan said.
The Provincial Agriculturist’s Office (OPA) also attributed the decline to lingering supply from the main harvest season in March and April. “It may be due to our last harvest… farmers likely still had stocks released to the market, keeping prices somewhat lower. Supply remained high, and when supply is high, prices ease,” the OPA noted.
Local rice vendors in San Jose town reported the following prevailing prices in July 2026: regular milled rice: P38.00 – P48.00 per kilo; well-milled rice: P49.00 – P57.00 per kilo; premium and special rice: P52.00 – P68.00 per kilo.
While the inflation rate has eased, the 13.7 percent figure remains elevated compared to pre-surge levels. Authorities continue to monitor supply, fuel costs, and harvest cycles to track future price movements/coa
