First lady brings rice aid to Muntinlupa

09 July 2026

FIRST lady Liza Araneta-Marcos led a rice aid distribution initiative on Wednesday among 3,000 families in Muntinlupa City under her “Mula sa Puso Para sa Pamilya” program.

The project is part of the national government’s support for vulnerable sectors, particularly senior citizens, to ease the impact of the rising cost of everyday goods.

Each family received 10 kilograms of rice.

The first lady was accompanied during the activity at the Muntinlupa Sports Center by League of Cities of the Philippines President and San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora and Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon.

Araneta-Marcos said that the modest assistance was intended to help families cope with their daily needs.

“My husband sent me here, first and foremost, to check on how you are doing. And regarding the rice, the message is: ‘Even though we cannot eradicate poverty 100 percent, at least this small blessing will help in the coming days,’” she said in Filipino.

Beneficiaries included 600 women and children under the Gender and Development Office, 200 senior citizens and solo parents assisted by the Social Services Department, 1,215 members of the Urban Poor Affairs Office, and 1,261 beneficiaries from ESC-Kabalikat and the city’s fisherfolk organizations.

A raffle was held during the event, with prizes including sacks of rice, rice cookers, digital television, grocery packages, and a Google television set.
