Signature Rice bags Cambodia’s first ‘Green Rice Mill’ title

27 July 2026

Leading rice exporter Signature Rice has achieved a historic milestone by securing the EDGE Preliminary Certificate for Cambodia’s very first green rice mill, according to an official announcement on July 24.

An EDGE Preliminary Certificate for a green rice mill building, from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, validates the sustainable design phase of an industrial facility using the EDGE Buildings standard.

It proves the facility is projected to achieve at least 20 percent savings in energy, water, and embodied carbon in materials compared to a local baseline.

The recognition from EDGE highlights the company’s push for sustainable, low carbon rice production aligned with international standards.

The milestone strengthens Signature Rice’s mission to empower Cambodian farmers through an inclusive business model, sustainable agriculture, and ethical supply chains that create lasting community value.

The company says it adheres to the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. This achievement directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Sustainable Development Goal 13 (SDG 13).

“Operating Cambodia’s first green rice mill ensures our premium rice delivers quality while protecting the planet,” Signature Rice said, reaffirming its commitment to environmental stewardship and improved rural livelihoods.

The mill thanked key partners, including the Agriculture and Rural Development Bank, the Cambodia Climate Finance Facility (CCFF), and Australia’s CAPRED program for their support.
