The Philippines and China were the two largest markets for Vietnamese rice exports in the first nine months of 2026, accounting for more than half of the total.
According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fisheries sector continued to record positive growth during the first nine months of 2026 despite volatility in global and domestic markets and fluctuations in fuel and raw material prices.
Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fisheries exports were estimated at USD 6.51 billion in September, bringing the total for the first nine months of the year to USD 56.3 billion, up 7.8 per cent year on year. The sector recorded a trade surplus of USD 16.9 billion, an increase of 7.4 per cent.
Agricultural exports were worth USD 29.28 billion, up 3.1 per cent, while livestock products rose 24.6 per cent to USD 564.4 million.
Fisheries exports reached USD 9.17 billion, up 12.3 per cent, while forestry products brought in nearly USD 14.41 billion, an increase of 7.6 per cent.
Exports of production inputs rose 58.2 per cent to USD 2.86 billion, while salt exports increased 35.1 per cent to USD 11.3 million.
Rice was among Vietnam's major agricultural export products, generating USD 3.11 billion in export revenue during the first nine months of 2026.
The Philippines was Vietnam's largest rice export market, accounting for 40.9 per cent of total rice export value. China ranked second with a 17.4 per cent share, followed by Ghana at 12.7 per cent.
Fruit and vegetable exports reached nearly USD 7.35 billion during the period, up 19.9 per cent from the same period last year. China remained by far the largest market, accounting for 63 per cent of Vietnam's total fruit and vegetable export value.
Fisheries exports reached USD 9.17 billion in the first nine months, up 12.3 per cent year on year.
China, the US and Japan were the three largest markets for Vietnamese seafood, accounting for 23.7 per cent, 15.7 per cent and 14 per cent of total export value, respectively.
