Odisha has urged the Centre for urgent steps to strengthen paddy procurement and address pending issues related to rice lifting and subsidy, with a focus on protecting farmers’ interests in the state.
In a meeting held today at his New Delhi office, Krushna Chandra Patra, Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Science and Technology, Government of Odisha met Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, New and Renewable Energy and Education. The discussion centered on several key issues concerning Odisha’s farmers and the state’s paddy procurement system.
The major points raised included:
Expeditious lifting of CMR by the Food Corporation of India (FCI)
Enhancing the target for delivery of parboiled rice under FCI delivery commitment
Revision of Custody & Maintenance Charges
Pending Subsidy Claims
Outstanding Central Assistance under NFSA and PMGKAY
Minister Krushna Chandra Patra took to X platform and informed this today. The message also said that every grain produced by the hard work of Odisha’s farmers holds value. Ensuring respect for that grain and protecting farmers’ rights is the responsibility of the “double engine” government.
