MRF to expand affordable rice sales scheme

The Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) announced on 10 April that it will increase its efforts to sell rice at affordable prices to the public amidst Middle East conflicts occurring since early March, as well as rising fuel prices and transportation difficulties.

The following prices have been set for sales directly at rice mills: Aemahta : 2,500 kyats per pyi, 90-Day and others: 3,000 to 3,500 kyats per pyi, and Ayeyawady Pawsan: 5,000 to 6,000 kyats per pyi. Wholesale prices at Bayintnaung and Wadancentres for a 24-pyi bag are: Aemahta: 60,000 kyats, 90-Day and others: 70,000 to 85,000 kyats, and Ayeyawady Pawsan: 120,000 to 140,000 kyats.

For industrial zone workers, factory staff, social organizations, and government departments within the Yangon Region, 10kg (5-pyi) bags are available starting at K12,500 kyats and departments can contact MRF: 09-400067240, 09-400067250, Myanmar Rice Millers Association: 09-457800311, Wadan :09-5123414, 09-5152601, and Bayintnaung : 09-769029428.
