TAGBILARAN CITY — The provincial government of Bohol is set to launch a P196-million rice subsidy program to affect sectors affected by the ongoing crisis, targeting thousands of families across the province.
Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado said preparations for the rollout are already underway following a coordination meeting with key provincial officials, including the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development and representatives from the Provincial Project Management Unit.
Aumentado confirmed that the procurement process has begun to fast-track the distribution of assistance.
The program will be funded through a P196-million allocation from the Local Government Support Fund–Financial Assistance under the national government’s Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program.
The provincial government is also preparing additional funds to expand the number of beneficiaries.
Priority will be given to the transport sector and fisherfolk, who have been directly affected by the crisis, based on beneficiary lists submitted by local government units. Each beneficiary is expected to receive rice assistance per tranche to help meet daily needs.
Aumentado said the initiative is part of the province’s efforts to cushion the crisis’s impact on vulnerable sectors./coa
