The issues remain unchanged, and this is one of those weeks when the Trump assassination attempt headlined, related news, U.S elections and Fed talks dominated shifts in the dollar, as markets look more defensive, while the U.S. economy is under the microscope.
The week’s highlights show a few key trade developments underline the market directions, and these elements are no strangers to us.
The British general elections and the 4th of July Independence Day celebrations also lent to a week that felt short.
The week started early as news of Myanmar rice personalities being called in for questioning came fast, and soon it was over 50 people “detained” and when we sought opinions on the event
Someone asked if I was bullish or bearish, and this week was the first time I felt some bearish vibes bite me

The BIG NEWS this week came from the Philippines with press reports of a 15% import duty on rice imports getting the nod

The Bulog tender took place on Monday with negotiations showing on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The week started with press reports flashed to us showing Indian market could consider lifting rice export restrictions once the monsoon is established as a base for a steady food grain supply. Most we contacted felt that any removal of restrictions remains unlikely
