ANN/THE PHNOM PENH POST – Cambodia generated close to USD1 billion from paddy and milled rice exports in the first five months of 2025, marking a nearly seven per cent rise compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF).
Data released by the CRF on June 4 showed that from January to May, the country earned a total of USD993.24 million from rice exports – a 6.78-per-cent increase over last year.
According to the CRF, milled rice from the Kingdom was exported to 63 countries/territories, amounting to 344,199 tonnes and generating USD252.3 million in revenue (compared to USD219.91 million in the same five-month period of 2024).
European countries were the largest buyers, importing 160,732 tonnes (worth USD126.75 million), followed by China and its autonomous regions with 90,665 tonnes (USD52.25 million), ASEAN members with 49,700 tonnes (USD34.56 million) and 30 countries in Africa and the Middle East, which imported 43,099 tonnes (USD37.8 million).
Cambodia also exported 3,102,973 tonnes of paddy rice to neighbouring countries, earning USD740.94 million – up from USD710.23 million during the same period in 2024.
In 2024, Cambodia earned a total of USD1.98716 billion from rice exports – of which paddy rice accounted for USD1.496 billion and milled rice USD419.19 million.
