Over 3.235 million metric tons of rice worth $1.894 million was exported during first nine months of the current financial year as compared to the exports of the corresponding period of the last year.

During the period from July-March 2025-26, rice exports from the country decreased by 38.55 percent as exports of the rice during the first 09 months of last financial year were recorded at 4.678 million tons worth of $2.757 million. According to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the country earned $598.968 million by exporting about 558,296 metric tons of Basmati rice as against the exports of 658,703 metric tons valued at $676.967 million of the same period of t he last year.

Meanwhile, about 2.677 million metric tons of rice other then Basmati valued at $1.097 million was exported as compared to the exports of 4.019 million metric tons worth $2.080 million of the same period of the last year, it added. The exports of food group from the country during 09 months of current financial year were recorded at $3.800 billion as compared to the exports of $5.754 billion of the same period of the last year.

On year on year basis, the exports of food commodities during the month of March, 2026 were recorded at $406.005 million as compared to the exports of $576.177 million of the same period of the last year.

The food group imports into the country during the first 09 months of current financial year were recorded at $7.090 billion as compared to the imports of $6.158 billion of the same period of the last year. Meanwhile, meat and meat preparations exports from the country during the first 09 months of the current financial year grew by 3.08 percent as compared to the exports of the corresponding period of the last year.

During the period from July-March 2025-26, over 92,080 metric tons meat and meat products valued at $405.988 million were exported as compared to the exports of 90,464 metric tons worth of $391.118 million of the same period of the last year.

According to the data of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the fish and fish preparations exports during the period under review also increased by 5.93 percent as compared to the exports of the same period of the last year. In last 09 months of the current financial year, about 151,855 metric tons of fish and fish products worth of $342.238 million were exported as compared to the exports of 151,528 metric tons valued at $322.906 million of the same period of the last year.

Meanwhile, over 3.235 million metric tons of rice worth $1.894 million was exported during the period under review as rice exports from the country recorded negative growth of 38.55 percent as against the exports of the same period of the last year.

However, the country earned $598.968 million by exporting about 558,296 metric tons of Basmati rice as against the exports of 658,703 metric tons valued at $676.967 million of the same period of t he last year, the data revealed.

During the period under review, about 2.677 million metric tons of rice other than Basmati valued at $1.097 million was exported as compared to the exports of 4.019 million metric tons worth $2.080 million of the same period of the last year, it added.

It is worth mentioning here that the exports of food group from the country during last 09 months of current financial year were recorded at $3.800 billion as compared to the exports of $5.754 billion of the same period of the last year.
