Cambodia exported 412,023 tonnes of milled rice in the first eight months of this year, with a revenue of $305 million, the Cambodia Rice Federation said in a news release on Thursday.
Fifty-three companies shipped milled rice to 65 countries and regions during the January-August period, the news release said, adding that China was still one of the key buyers.
The Kingdom exported 77,792 tonnes of milled rice to China during the period, making a gross revenue of almost $48.9 million, the news release said.
Cambodian rice exports comprise fragrant, white, parboiled, and organic rice.
Im Rachna, the Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson for Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, said China is one of the major markets for Cambodian agricultural products.
“The purchase of our agricultural products by China and other countries has significantly contributed to the development of Cambodia’s agricultural sector and brought a lot of benefits to our people, especially farmers,” she told Xinhua. Xinhua
