Here’s what we’re following:

  • Iran will invite the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog to inspect its nuclear sites and begin identifying the locations of Tehran’s enriched material, President Donald Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff told U.S. lawmakers in a private briefing Thursday, according to two people familiar with the call. Earlier in the day, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba endorsed direct negotiations with the U.S. in his first public response to the deal reached between the two countries.
  • Vice President JD Vance on Thursday issued a surprising rebuke to Israeli officials criticizing the deal as he defended it at a White House press briefing. Vance warned that Trump “is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time.”
  • The deal with Iran, signed by Trump on Wednesday, calls for Tehran to dilute its stockpile of highly enriched uranium and opens the Strait of Hormuz without tolls for two months, according to details released by both countries. For its part, the U.S. will waive sanctions against Iran — a major concession that immediately allows Iran to sell its oil freely — and has lifted its naval blockade on Iranian ports.
  • The agreement also triggers 60-day negotiating clock to reach a final deal on the future of Iran’s nuclear program. Read what else is in the agreement.
  • Still, Vance on Thursday said he “doesn’t know exactly when” he’ll be going to Switzerland for the signing ceremony, which was initially planned for Friday. Vance added that the timing partially depends on when Iranian representatives can get there.
